Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket Update: Grains, Fish, Herbs & More
It’s been a long, cold winter, but we’ve got some promising signs of spring from the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket!
First off, this Saturday, March 28 is your last chance to stamp your Winter Warrior card — if you’ve gone to the market 10 times this winter, you’ll be eligible a coupon for a reward from one of the participating producers.
Also on Saturday, look out for the Greenmarket Regional Grains Project Pop-Up Shop from 8am-3pm. If you’ve been missing Cayuga, this is a great opportunity to stock up on regionally grown grains, flours, and beans. Plus, they’ll be doing some grains-inspired cooking demonstrations.
And as it begins to warm up, we’ll start seeing some seasonal producers return to the market. Here’s what to look out for:
- Blue Moon Fish will be back March 28 with fish caught off Long Island.
- Scarborough Fields will be back April 4 with herb plants.
- Lebak Farms will be back April 11 with fresh-cut flowers.
The Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket is located at the northwest corner of Prospect Park, at Prospect Park West and Flatbush Avenue. It’s open year-round on Saturdays from 8am-4pm.
