GOS 2018: Visit The Studios Of 400+ Gowanus Artists
GOWANUS – Gowanus Open Studios returns this weekend bigger and better than ever, with more than 400 participating artists and venues opening their doors to the public and welcoming visitors.
Presented by Arts Gowanus, the free event is one of Brooklyn’s largest celebrations of local arts and artists. Now in its 22nd year, Gowanus Open Studios offers attendees the chance to meet artists, explore their workspaces, attend specially curated shows, and see the vast array of art being produced in the creative Gowanus neighborhood.
Highlights of GOS 2018 include:
- access to 415 artist spaces and studios
- group exhibitions on view at The Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse, 365 Bond, The Yard (157 13th Street), and Shapeshifter Lab’s “Ceramics Hub” (18 Whitwell Place)
- artist-curated lists of top 10 studios to visit during GOS 2018
- a guided walking tour of select studios (tickets $15)
The GOS 2018 Kickoff Party is scheduled for Friday, October 19 from 6pm to 9pm at The Vanderbilt Republic (Gowanus Loft, 61 9th Street, Suite C8). AMERICA NOW SUITE, a large-scale work by a Gowanus Open Studios founding artist, Dale Williams, will be on view.
The GOS 2018 Closing Party will take place on Sunday, October 21 from 6:30pm to 10pm at Threes Brewing (333 Douglass Street).
