GoogaMooga: The Revenge

GoogaMooga

The Great GoogaMooga, the concert and food event that first descended on Prospect Park last summer, is back for round two from Friday, May 17 through Sunday, May 19, and tickets go on sale on Thursday.

The music lineup includes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Flaming Lips at the kickoff concert on Friday, then the weekend features Matt & Kim, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, De La Soul, and Ditmas Park’s own Sharon Van Etten. There will be food from 85 restaurants, including Calexico, Momofuku Milk Bar, Pork Slope, and Roberta’s, and for drinks, they expect over 100 brews from more than 30 brewers, and the same numbers for wines.

Thoughts on the very first GoogaMooga were varied. Was it overpriced, was there not enough food, and was it a poor use of the Nethermeade? Or was it a nice way to spend a weekend very close to home?

Taking feedback from last year’s event into account, the organizers have dropped the “VIP” ticket price (from $249.50 to $79.50), and they say they will be “expanding the festival’s general admission footprint, increasing points of sale, and improving transaction speeds for food and beverage purchases.”

If you’re willing to give it a shot, tickets for the kickoff concert ($49.50 for Early Bird allotment, and $54.50 once the Early Bird allotment is sold out), and the VIP tickets ($79.50 per day) for May 18 and 19 go on sale at 12pm on Thursday, March 28.

Looking for the free general admission tickets? Registration begins April 1 at noon, and you can register to receive one or two free tickets to either Saturday or Sunday. You will need to choose which day you’d like to attend when you register. Registration will close on April 3 at 11:59pm. Tickets will be awarded at random and recipients will be notified by email on or before April 10.
