Good Luck to Our Local Greenest Block Nominees!

We noticed these signs up in Newkirk Plaza this weekend announcing that it’s one of the nominees for the Greenest Block in Brooklyn Competition run by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The map on their site doesn’t include the Plaza, so we’re not sure how accurate it is–so if you know of a block in the neighborhood that’s also in the running, let us know in the comments, and good luck to all!

The Greenest Block nominees will be judged by the BBG for the following criteria: Variety and Suitability of Plants, Horticultural Practice, Street Tree Care, Soil and Mulching, Maintenance, Color and Total Visual Effect, and Citizen Participation. Winners will be announced in August.
