Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz, in partnership with the New York Blood Center, is asking residents to roll up their sleeves and give the “Gift of Life” at his Super Community Blood Drive, this Thursday, October 3 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at 1729 Sheepshead Bay Road.

A New York Blood Center Bloodmobile, stationed at the corner of Sheepshead Bay Road and Emmons Avenue, will welcome those wishing to donate blood just steps from his Sheepshead Bay Road community office (1800 Sheepshead Bay Road). Every day in our area, nearly 2,000 donations are needed for patients who require a lifesaving blood and/or platelet transfusion.

Eligibility Criteria

  • ID with photo or signature
  • Minimum weight 110 lbs
  • Between 16-76 years of age
  • 16-year-olds need parental consent.
  • Persons age 76 and over must bring a doctor’s note.

If saving lives is not enough of an incentive, all presenting donors will also be entered into a sweepstakes to win a pair of tickets for Super Bowl XLVIII, valued at $2,500.

Just to get you inspired to donate a pint of the Gift of Life, here is Pete Townshend and David Gilmour performing “Give Blood” in 1985.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are appreciated. Call Assemblyman Cymbrowitz’ District Office at (718) 743-4078 for an appointment or more information.
