On Friday, October 2, owner James Roberts flipped around the “Come in, we’re open,” sign to officially launch 209 Station (209 Prospect Park West, between 16th Street and Bartel-Pritchard Square) to the community.

We stopped by a few weeks back when Roberts was putting the finishing touches on the store. “It’s going to be beer-centered,” he said at the time.

Well, the beer is flowing, and you’ll be able to take it home with you from the store in their 32-ounce growlers. You can also bring them back to be re-used.

Roberts pours a variety from the tap and then seals them in a can for you. The cans are more compact and manageable than the typical glass jug you may associate with beer growlers.

In addition to beer, 209 Station will be selling sandwiches, cheese, dips, and spreads. Roberts told us that they’ll be featuring roasted pork and roasted veggie sandwiches, all on multigrain bread.
