Get Ready For Spring With A Bike Tune Up From Flatbush Mutual Aid

If your bike has been sitting in storage, tires slowly deflating for the last six months or so of horrific weather, now’s the time to start getting it ready for spring! Flatbush Mutual Aid will be offering bike tune up workshops this Saturday, March 29, and next Saturday, April 5, both from 1:30-4:30pm in the Flatbush Reformed Church house’s basement (enter though back entrance on Kenmore Terrace, just off 21st Street south of Church Avenue).

“Participants will have their bicycles checked by our local bike guru, former bike racer and experienced bicycle mechanic, Maikel Carder,” says the organization, who will offer instruction on routine maintenance and lubrication, adjusting brakes, gears, and bearings, fixing flats,  fixing flats, and more. “There is no charge for the workshops, although we do ask for donations to cover parts and expenses.”

You’re going to want to take a ride when that first beautiful day finally comes–so there’s virtue in preparing ahead of time! For more information or to reserve a spot, call 718-421-1814–and learn more about the organization’s skill sharing program here.
