Get Ready For Purim Fun At Events Around Brooklyn
Purim is almost upon us, and if you’re looking for family carnivals and activities here in Brooklyn, we’ve got six events full of Purim fun that you won’t want to miss.
Brooklyn Children’s Museum Purim Celebration
When: Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20, 10 am to 5 pm
Where: 145 Brooklyn Avenue
Details: Brooklyn Children’s Museum is having – not one – but two days of Purim fun! From March 19 to March 20, families can look forward to celebrating the cultural traditions of Purim with museum staff.
Admission: $11 per person (free for museum members).
Chabad Of Sheepshead Bay Purim Festival
When: Wednesday, March 23, 6 to 9 pm
Where: 2955 Coney Island Ave
Details: How can you go wrong with a place called the Land O’Fun? Dress up in your favorite costume and join Chabad of Sheepshead Bay for Purim crafts, bumper cars, video arcade games, a 3 level soft playground, and a Kosher food concession stand. Also look for a megillah reading at 7 pm.
Admission: $10 per child – adults are free.
Congregation Beth Elohim Purim Carnival
When: Sunday, March 20, 9:30 am to 12 pm or 11 am to 1:30 pm
Where: 274 Garfield Place
Details: Congregation Beth Elohim isn’t just throwing a Purim carnival – it’s an extravaganza! Kids of all ages can look forward to bounce houses, interactive megillah readings, games, Henna, milkshakes, and more. Note that there are two megillah readings – one for tots and another for elementary kids – with ticketed carnival sales before and after readings to help with crowd control.
Admission: $15 per person/ $10 for members in advance or $20 per person/$15 for members at the door.
Jewish Children’s Museum Purim Treasure Hunt
When: Sunday, March 13 and Sunday, March 20, 1:30 pm
Where: 792 Eastern Parkway
Details: Shake things up with a Purim treasure hunt at Jewish Children’s Museum. Kids can help King Achashveirosh find his missing signet ring by answering clues hidden on the exhibit floors.
Admission: $13 for museum admission.
Kings Bay Y Purim Carnival
When: Sunday, March 20, 11 am to 2 pm
Where: 3495 Nostrand Avenue
Details: Don’t miss the fantastic Purim festivities from our friends at Kings Bay Y. With hamentashen eating contests, art, music, dance, theatre, inflatable rides, arcade games, and face painting, there’s a little something for everyone.
Admission: Free.
Shorefront Y Purim Celebration
When: Sunday, March 20, 2 to 4 pm
Where: 3300 Coney Island Avenue
Details: Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got Purim fun with Shorefront Y. Look for costume contests, game stations, a photo booth, face painting, an interactive Purim story, magical performances, delicious treats, and more.
Admission: $5 for the whole family.
