Get Healthy With Upcoming Exercise & Herbal Medicine Classes In Ditmas Park

Just because bikini season is coming to an end doesn’t mean you should forget about your health and wellness. Check out these upcoming classes and events in the area to keep you feeling your best.

Sustainable Flatbush and Sacred Vibes Apothecary
Where: The Sustainable Flatbush Healing Herb Garden, 2103 Kenmore Terrace by E 21 Street
When: Saturday, August 17
What: The Kitchen Herbals workshop (10am) will teach you about the medicinal properties of herbs commonly used around the kitchen. After the workshop, a community meal will be sponsored by Brooklyn Jubilee as a part of the Flatbush Reformed Church’s Bread for the Journey program.

The Herbs for Elders and Caretaking workshop (1:30pm), taught by Sacred Vibes’ Karen Rose, is designed to help support the body as it ages. It’s exceptionally useful for those caring for a parent, or those in the elder care industry. Both workshops are free–just make sure to sign up in advance.

Jaya Yoga East
Where: 2902 Fort Hamilton Parkway on the corner of E 4th Street
When: September 21 and October 19
What: On Saturday, September 21 and Saturday, October 19, Jaya is hosting Kirtan classes with Devadas Labrecque. Chanting, singing, and bringing the kids is encouraged. Both classes are from 7-8:30pm, and there is a suggested $10 donation.

DF Studios
Where: 593 Coney Island Avenue between Lewis Place and Matthews Court
When: Various days and times–see full schedule for details
What: DF Studios, which hosted an open house over the weekend, now has plenty of Tai Chi, Zumba, Reiki, and yoga classes on their calendar. You can sign up online.
