Get Festive On Fifth Avenue This Holiday Season

With Thanksgiving only one week away, it’s time to start talking jingle bells, jolly bearded men, and gifts. If you’re looking to keep it local this holiday season, look no further than 5th Avenue.

The Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID is set to kick off the most wonderful time of the year on Small Business Saturday, November 30, with Festive Fifth, a celebration of both the holidays and area businesses.

Stores and restaurants that line the 30-block stretch of 5th Avenue between Dean and 18th Street will participate by staying open late, and offering a number of holiday specials. Best of all, the extended shopping hours will continue every Saturday through December 21.

You won’t want to miss Small Business Saturday, though. From 6:30pm to 9pm, look for:

Tree-lighting ceremony at 6:30pm on the corner of Fifth and 3rd Street in front of S’Nice, which will offer complimentary hot chocolate

• Santa Claus, traveling up and down the Avenue in a colorful antique automobile and making stops at shops and boutiques from 7-9pm.

• Music, music, music – provided by the Slope’s MS 51 chorus of local kids, Rolie Polie Guacamole, the popular Brooklyn kid’s band, and three companies of carolers stationed at intervals along the Avenue

• Puppets and jugglers from Park Slope’s own Puppetry Arts

• Holiday family movies projected on the outside wall of Freddy’s Bar

Spend the day exploring some of our South Slope shops, including La Casa Artesanal, Life Boutique Thrift, Vice Versa, and Flirt. Afterward, grab a bite (or a beer) at some of the Avenue’s restaurants and watering holes, like The Monro Pub, Sidecar, Commonwealth, Prospect, Der Kommissar, Skylark, Black Horse Pub, Freddy’s, South and more.

Come out and show some love for local business! For more information, email info@parkslopefifthavenuebid.com.
