Get Bzzz-y During NYC Honey Week Festivities At The Brooklyn Navy Yard

NYC Honey Week starts this coming Monday, September 8! If you’re interested in the sweet stuff and how local beekeepers go about getting it made, you can join Brooklyn Navy Yard’s BLDG 92 (63 Flushing Avenue near Cumberland Street) at one of their events to learn more.

Their first happening of the week, to be held from 12-5pm on Wednesday, September 10, will include a costume building session, a farm tour, and a recipe via MARP’s Myrtle Eats Fresh initiative. After attendees craft wearables for Honey Fest’s “Be-A-Bee” Parade with help from City Growers, they’ll get a look at the logistics behind BLDG 92’s rooftop growing and beekeeping operation (what are bees’ favorite plants, anyways?) and will learn how to make a treat using honey with MEF chef Roisin Ford.

The September 10 event is free, although preregistration is required. BLDG 92 will also be hosting two paid events on Sunday, September 14, which you can read more about here.
