Get A Free Tree At Compost For Brooklyn
Need a little more green in your life? Neighbors are invited to pick up a free tree at Compost for Brooklyn, thanks to the New York Restoration Project, this Sunday, April 6 from 12-2pm at the garden on the corner of Newkirk Avenue and East 8th Street.
To receive a free tree, you must agree:
– To plant it in one of the five boroughs.
– To keep it properly watered and maintained.
– Not to plant it along streets, in city parks, in containers, terraces, balconies, or on roofs.
There are currently three types of trees to choose from: Chinese Dogwood, Kieffer Pear, and Brown Turkey Fig. But act fast if there’s one you’d prefer, as they’re going quickly.
Here’s where to reserve your tree — note that you have to pick it up between 12-1pm, and that after 1pm, your tree may be given to someone else.
The garden will also be hosting a book sale fundraiser on the same day, so if you’re not in the market for a tree, you may want to swing by to pick up a book. Or, if you’ve got some books to unload, you can donate them to the sale during the garden’s open hours this Thursday from 1-3:30pm.
