Gas Station Gunfight in Bed Stuy
BED STUY – Police are looking for two individuals after the attempted daylight robbery of a gas station turned into a gunfight yesterday.
Two men brandishing handguns approached the Sunoco gas station at 584 Gates Ave yesterday, August 14, at 1:20pm, forcing two employees into the service area, said police. A third employee, already inside, attempted to escape, and the robbers fired several shots at him as he ran, said police.
The 70-year old employee then produced his own handgun and returned fire. The robbers fled north on Throop Ave, then west on Gates Ave, said police.
The 70-year old employee sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg and was taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, said police.
The individuals are both described by police as black males, one with a black ski mask and the other with a red bandana around his face. The first was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. The second was last seen wearing a white shirt, black jeans and black sneakers.
