Funeral Service For Sammy Cohen-Eckstein Will Be Held Thursday At Congregation Beth Elohim

Funeral services for Sammy Cohen-Eckstein, the 12-year-old boy who passed away after being hit by a van on Prospect Park West yesterday, will be held tomorrow, Thursday, October 10, at noon at Congregation Beth Elohim, Garfield Place and 8th Avenue.

Kolot Chayeinu, which made the announcement, added, “All who knew Sammy remember his beautiful smile and the light in his eyes, his thoughtful intelligence, his athletic ability, and his laughter.”

The funeral, which will be led by Kolot Chayeinu’s Rabbi Lippmann and Cantor Segal, is being held at CBE because it can accommodate 1,000 people. After the service, family and close friends only will go to Greenwood Cemetery for burial and the family will be observing shiva thereafter.
