Fun Winter Bike Rides Coming Up In Prospect Park

Love to bike, but getting bored with your same old route? See if one of these upcoming group rides near Ditmas Park strikes your fancy.

Time’s Up Moonlight Ride
This ride through Prospect Park is held on a monthly basis, so if you miss the one on Saturday, December 14, don’t worry–you can always participate in 2014.

Ride your bike (one with lights, says Time’s Up!) or skate over to Grand Army Plaza at 9pm to join, unless the weather’s bad–rain at 8:45pm cancels the event. Just in case, the next Moonlight Ride is Saturday, January 11.

Make Music Winter
The Saturday, December 21 event features interactive parades across the city–but the one closest to our area is a musical ride through Prospect Park. This year’s ride features Merche Blasco‘s Blink, a composition using bicycle bells.

“Riders travel through Prospect Park, following a score transmitted from the lead bike via a special helmet pre-programmed with lights that cue bicycle bells of different pitches,” says Make Music Winter. “Through the piece, riders will collaborate with each other and generate music that interacts with the soundscape of the area.”

To take part, simply ride over to Grand Army Plaza at 4:30pm on the day of the event and grab one of the bicycle bells being handed out. Blink will wrap up around 5:30pm near Bartel-Pritchard Square.
