Friday Crime Blotter: Two Attempted Rapes, A Home Invasion in Windsor Terrace & More

BROWNSVILLE – Police have arrested 25-year old Kurk Murray of East Flatbush in connection with a seemingly random slashing that took place in Brownsville last month.

The attack happened around 11:30 pm on Monday, August 6, near Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Parkway, said police, when Murray allegedly approached a 44-year old woman from behind and slashed her face with an unknown object.

Police confirmed Murray has been charged with assault. A surveillance photo from around the time of the assault can be seen below:

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for a suspect in connection with an attempted rape in South Williamsburg on Labor Day.

The attack came around 7:45 am on Monday, September 3, near Berry and South 10th Street, said police. The attacker followed the 42-year old victim into her apartment building, grabbing the victim with a hand over her mouth and attempting to sexually assault her, police said.

The victim was able to resist and her attacker fled, said police, running down South 10th before turning onto Broadway. The victim was uninjured and wasn’t taken to the hospital.

WINDSOR TERRACE – After two suspects forced their way into a Windsor Terrace home to rob its occupants last weekend, police have arrested one suspect—and are on the hunt for another.

The robbery took place around 4:25 am on Saturday, September 1, police said, near Prospect Park West and 17th Street. A man and a woman knocked on the 38-year-old male victim’s door, and when he opened it, the woman used a mallet to smash through the security chain.

Both suspects then stormed into the house, assaulting the victim and demanding money. Ultimately, they stole $42 from the victim and fled, leaving him with serious injuries to his head. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he received 27 staples in his head, said police.

The woman involved in the assault and robbery has been arrested, but police are still looking for her male accomplice. Surveillance photos of the suspect can be seen below:


BAY RIDGE – Finally, police are after the suspect in another attempted rape in Brooklyn, this time at the end of August in Bay Ridge.

The attack took place near 90th Street and 5th Avenue around 1:40 am on Saturday, August 25, said police. The suspect forced a 27-year-old woman into an alley, threw her to the ground and began to sexually assault her, said police. Fortunately, a passerby intervened, struggling with the attacker before driver him off.
