Friday Crime Blotter: Escaped Prisoner, Attempted Bank Robbery, NYCHA Shooting & More

CONEY ISLAND – A person was shot inside a NYCHA building this morning and police are still searching for the suspects.

According to the cops, a 49-year-old man was shot once in the leg after a dispute at 2970 West 27th Street at 2:30 a.m. He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital on 55th Street.

There appear to be multiple suspects and the investigation is on-going with no arrests made at this time.

EAST NEW YORK – Police are searching for a suspect who they believe shot a 34-year-old man in the head earlier this week.

At around 2:20 a.m. on December 30, the suspect allegedly approached the victim in front of 2481 Pitkin Avenue and shot him. The suspect then fled the scene in a white SUV. The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is in critical condition.

Beside the photos, there was no description given of the suspect.

BRIGHTON BEACH – The NYPD is looking for an individual that escaped police custody at the 60th precinct yesterday.

At approximately 4 p.m. yesterday, January 3rd, the police were questioning Isiah McGill in regards to a robbery. According to the cops, McGill fled out the second story window during the investigation.

The suspect was last seen running north on West 12th Street. He is described as a 36-year-old black man, weighing 160 pounds with black hair. He was wearing red pants and a red sweatshirt with “GOAT” and “23” written on the back.

SUNSET PARK – Police are searching for a suspect involved in an attempted bank robbery that took place last Wednesday.

According to the cops, a man entered Chase Bank on 5323 Fifth Avenue on January 2nd at around 3:50 p.m. He then displayed a note demanding cash and then left the bank without cash.

He is described as a 5’7” white man in his mid-30s, with a slim build and black hair.

CYPRESS HILLS – The NYPD needs help searching for four suspects involved in a robbery that took place last month.

On Tuesday, December 18, a 38-year-old male was walking in front of 143 Cleveland Street at approximately 12:20 a.m. He was then approached from behind by four males, two of whom assaulted him, while the other two took his iPhone 6.

The suspects then fled the scene, though it is unclear which direction they went. The victim did not seek medical attention and only had bruising and swelling on his face.

The cops describe the suspects as follows:

Suspect 1: A 16-18-year-old black man, approximately 5’5” tall with glasses. He was last seen wearing dark-colored camouflage pants, a black jacket, and a black hooded sweatshirt and dark colored shoes.

Suspect 2: A 16-18-year-old black man, approximately 5’11” tall with short hair, a black vest, a black hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants with black sneakers.

Suspect 3: A 16-18-year-old Hispanic man, approximately 5’10” tall with short hair, a black hooded jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black shoes.

Suspect 4: A 16-18-year-old Hispanic man, approximately 5’10” tall with short hair, a black du-rag, a black jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, red pants, and black shoes.
