Friday Crime Blotter: A Homicide In Bed-Stuy, A Downtown Bank Robbery & More
BED-STUY – Police responded to a call of a man shot in front of the Roosevelt Houses in Bed-Stuy last night, arriving just before midnight to find the victim of a homicide.
Police said that on Thursday, January 18 at 11:58 pm, they found the unconscious and unresponsive 36-year old man outside 50 Stuyvesant Avenue, with gunshot wounds to his head and body.
EMS transported the individual to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, said police. The name of the victim has not been released pending family notification, and an investigation is ongoing.
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – In a month rife with bank robberies, yet another has been robbed—this time, on Wednesday, January 17.
Minutes after midday, a man walked into the Chase Bank on 20 Flatbush Avenue and passed the teller a note demanding money, said police. The teller complied, and the man fled on foot with roughly $2,500 in cash, heading west down Flatbush Avenue.
Police described the suspect as a black man in his mid-30s or early 40s, about 5’7″ with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a hooded black jacket with stripes on the sleeves. A photo of the suspect taken from surveillance video can be seen below:
BAY RIDGE – Police are looking for the man who groped a woman on the R train in Bay Ridge last weekend.
At 5:00 am on Saturday, January 14, the suspect approached his 38-year old female victim on the Manhattan-bound R train while in the 86th Street Station at Fourth Avenue, grabbing her buttocks before fleeing, said police.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man around 30 years old, about 5’11” and 220 lbs. He was last seen wearing a red and black jacket over a gray hoodie and blue jeans, and a knit hat. A photo of the suspect can be seen below:
SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Police are looking for two men who robbed the Bay Laundry Depot on Ocean Avenue last Sunday, January 14.
At approximately 2:30 am, one man was seen surveying the rear alley of the laundromat at 2804 Ocean Avenue. Then, just before 7:00 am, another man entered the laundromat and removed about $1,000 from the register, before both men fled, said police.
