Friday Crime Blotter: A $3 Robbery, A Senior Citizen Held Up and More

BRIGHTON BEACH – Police are looking for two individuals who robbed a senior citizen in the area of Neptune Avenue and Brighton 10th Street last Tuesday night.

The 70-year old male victim was walking in Brighton Beach around 10:30 pm on Tuesday, January 30 when the suspects approached him, one standing in front of him and one behind, said police. The man behind the victim placed an unknown object to his back and demanded his property. The victim complied, handing over his cell phone and $100 cash, then the robbers fled on foot, said police.

Police described the first suspect as a black man 18-23 years old and 6′ tall, last seen in a black jacket with a fur-lined hood. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 18-22 years old and 5′ tall, last seen wearing a red jacket. The two can be seen on surveillance video below:

BED-STUY – Police are still looking for one suspect after the violent robbery of a 16-year old boy near Jefferson and Nostrand Avenues in Bed-Stuy last week.

On Wednesday, January 24, at 5:30 pm, the two suspects approached the victim, with one putting the boy in a headlock while the other brandished a knife at him, said police. The victim resisted, but one of the suspects managed to steal $3 from the boy’s pockets and a plastic bag containing a sweatshirt.

On the night of Saturday, January 27, police arrested 17-year old Kwame Walcott in connection with the robbery, charging him with two counts of robbery, plus one count each of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. Police said the unapprehended suspect is roughly the same age, and can be seen in surveillance video below:

EAST FLATBUSH – Police are looking for four men who attempted to steal from a cell phone store in East Flatbush last week, then assaulted an employee who tried to intervene.

Tuesday, January 23rd, just before 4:00 pm, four men entered the Cricket Wireless at 4723 Church Avenue and 48th Street, said police. As one of the suspects engaged the 48-year old male employee in conversation, another suspect removed a cell phone from its security wire, then tried to leave the store. When the employee moved to stop the would-be thief, one of the suspects punched him in the back of the head, said police. The four then fled the store westbound on Church Avenue.

Police described the four suspects as black male teenagers, from 15 – 18 years old. They can be seen in pictures taken from surveillance video below:
