Friday Crime Blotter: City Employees Arrested Left and Right, A Hit-and-Run Robbery & More

BUSHWICK – Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of William Fernandez, who was killed at Bushwick Avenue and Beaver Street last month.

Yesterday, NYPD arrested David Hall, 46, a nearby resident, and charged him with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

CITY EMPLOYEES ARRESTED

  • NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agent Odanye Henry was arrested around 10:30 pm Thursday, July 5 and charged with criminal mischief in the 67th Precinct.
  • NYPD Detective Lori Campbell was arrested in the 84th precinct on Tuesday, July 3 and charged with stalking. Campbell had allegedly stalked a co-worker and former lover, following the woman in an unmarked car, bombarding her with phone calls and even throwing urine on her door, the New York Post reported.
  • NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agent was arrested in the 67th Precinct in Crown Heights on July 3 and charged with strangulation and assault.
  • NYPD Police Officer Tanvir Ahmed, 28, was arrested on Monday, July 2 and charged with assault, DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and refusal to take a breath test in the 62nd Precinct.

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for the man who groped a woman’s buttocks in Williamsburg late last month.

The sexual assault occurred around noon on Wednesday, June 27, at Metropolitan and Lorimer Avenues, said police. The man was riding a bicycle when he approached the 31-year old victim and grabbed her buttocks, said police.

BED-STUY – A man and a woman are wanted for the robbery of an old man on a Bed-Stuy streetcorner last month that sent the senior citizen to the hospital, police said.

Around 6:30 am on Thursday, June 21, the pair approached the 84-year old victim from behind while walking near Fulton Street and Troy Avenue, pushing the man to the ground and causing a severe injury to his hip, police said.

The duo stole the man’s wallet, which contained $20, and fled on foot. The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

EAST FLATBUSH – Finally, police are looking for a pair of robbers that hit a man’s car before assaulting him for his property in East Flatbush in early June.

The incident took place around 10:15 am on Monday, June 11, said police, when the two suspects used their van to rear-end a car parked in front of the TD Bank at 1623 Flatbush Avenue.

When the driver got out to confront the suspects, one of the two punched the man in the face, while the other opened the car to remove a bag containing $13,000 in cash and a laptop.

A third accomplice, a driver, stayed in the van, picking up the other two as they fled the scene and driving north on New York Avenue, said police. Surveillance video of the suspects can be seen below:
