Friday Crime Blotter: Back to Back Burglaries in Bay Ridge, A Bushwick Break-In & More

CYPRESS HILLS – Police are looking for a bicycle thief that hit a house in Cypress Hills earlier this week.

The theft occurred on Tuesday, June 12, around 11:00 pm in the vicinity of Fulton and Hale Avenues, said police. The 51-year old victim of the theft saw the damage to his door around 1:00 am an called the police, who determined that a male suspect forced his was into the location, stole a bike, and fled to parts unknown.

BAY RIDGE – A man is wanted in a pair of back-to-back burglaries in Bay Ridge that took place earlier this month.

The first occurred on Thursday, May 31, just after noon, in the vicinity of Shore Road and Oliver Street, said police. The suspect forced open the door to a building and took the stairs to the roof, descending to the victim’s floor via fire escape, police said. Once inside, he stole jewelry and electronics from the 28-year old victim.

The second burglary took place the next day, on Friday, June 1, sometime between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm, said police. Once again, the suspect forced entry to a building, this time in the area of Ovington and 6th Avenues, once again using the fire escape to gain entry to an apartment through an unsecured window. Once inside, said police, he stole electronics from the 37-year old male victim.

BUSHWICK – Finally, police are following up on a burglary at a Bushwick residence at Bushwick Avenue and Beaver Street late last month, looking for a suspect.

The burglary took place on Friday, April 20, around 10:15 am, said police. The suspect forced his way past a secured door into the apartment and stole about $2,500 worth of electronics from the 27-year old woman and 31-year old man that lived in the apartment.

The individual fled down Belvedere Street on foot towards Beaver, said police. Video surveillance of the suspect can be seen below:
