Friday Crime Blotter: Screwdriver Subway Stabbing, 2 Burglary Sprees, A Missing Person & More
FLATBUSH – Police are searching for a man involved in a robbery on a 2 Train yesterday.
On Thursday, January 10 at around 2 p.m., the suspect stabbed a sleeping man in the head and arm with a screwdriver onboard the northbound 2 subway at the Beverly Road station. The suspect stole $300 from the man and left the train. The 29-year-old victim was taken to Kings County Hospital and is in stable condition.
Police describe the suspect as a 5’10”, 30- to 35-year-old black man weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black and gray jacket, black jeans, and a black hat.
CYPRESS HILLS – The police need help searching for two men involved in a robbery on Monday.
On January 7, at approximately 2 p.m., two men approached a 35-year-old man who was inside the cargo area of his delivery truck outside 3069 Fulton Street. The suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim gave them $7,300. The suspects then left the scene and headed north on Highland Place.
Cops describe the suspects as two males with light complexions wearing dark clothing and masks.
BUSHWICK – The NYPD is searching for a man who robbed and sexually assaulted a woman last week.
On Tuesday, January 1, at approximately 11:20pm, a man went inside the building on Grattan Street and Knickerbocker Avenue. He approached a 35-year-old woman in the lobby and asked her for money. He then pushed the woman against the wall, told her he had a gun, and placed a cutting instrument to her throat. He then sexually assaulted her, stole $100 and several credit/debit cards.
The NYPD describes the suspect as a black man wearing a waist-length jacket with grayish white fur, a gray sweater, and a gray knit hat. The police have released the following sketch.
CYPRESS HILLS – Police are searching for two men who physically assaulted and robbed a woman last week.
On Thursday, January 3, at approximately 10 p.m., two men approached a 47-year-old woman who was standing on the sidewalk on Essex Street and Liberty Avenue. The men repeatedly punched and kicked her in the face and torso. The woman fell to the ground and the men stole $1,400, a credit card, and an LG cellphone. One man fled north while the other fled south on Essex Street.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and is in serious but stable condition.
Police describe the suspects as black men last seen wearing all dark clothing. A video showing them is attached.
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS – Police need help searching for a man who they believe choked and attempted to rob a woman on the subway about three weeks ago.
On December 31, at about 11:46 a.m., a man approached a 24-year-old woman and started a conversation with her. They were onboard the southbound 2 Train at the Borough Hall Subway Station. The man then began to choke the victim and attempted to take her necklace. He then left the scene in an unknown direction.
Police describe the suspect as a 5’8” tall 35-year-old black man weighing about 180 pounds. He’s bald and has brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a dark-colored shirt, blue jeans, white scarf, yellow boots, and dark colored glasses.
SHEEPSHEAD BAY/ MAPLETON/ MIDWOOD/ FLATBUSH – Police are searching for two men involved in seven burglaries throughout Brooklyn in the last month.
Between December 8 and December 31, the two men forced their way inside seven commercial buildings when the businesses were still closed in the early morning. Once they were inside, they stole money, credit cards, surveillance equipment, cigarette boxes, lottery tickets, and clothing.
Here are the locations they targeted:
- 2220 Ave U on December 8
- 6103 20th Avenue on December 16
- 6303 18th Avenue on December 16
- 1776 Ocean Avenue on Dember 19
- 2915 Avenue I on December 28
- 2713 Avenue U on December 28
- 2923 Avenue I on December 31
Police describe the suspects as two men last seen wearing dark-colored clothing. A video of them inside 2220 Ave U is attached below.
GRAVESEND – The NYPD needs help searching for two men involved in a burglary that took place three weeks ago.
On December 24 at approximately 11:45 p.m., two men forcibly entered the basement of B & H Cellular at 253 Avenue W. The men then removed $325,250 worth of Apple products. Both suspects left the scene in a white Ford van and headed north on McDonald Avenue.
Police say the suspects wore dark-colored clothing. A photo is attached below.
BAY RIDGE – Police need help searching for a man involved in two burglaries last week.
On Thursday, January 3 at approximately 10:35 a.m., a man entered a building on 74th Street and 5th Avenue. He attempted to pry the basement door open but was not successful. The superintendent confronted the suspect who then fled the scene in a gray 4-door sedan and headed east on 74th Street.
About an hour later, the same man entered a building on Fort Hamilton Parkway and 86th Street. He pressed a bunch of doorbells and was granted access into the building. He went to the basement and forced open two closets and stole a shopping cart, plumbing supplies, and scrap metal. He then left the scene and headed in an unknown direction.
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man with a beard, who was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweater, a red shirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers.
FLATLANDS – Police are looking for a man who they believe forcibly touched a girl on an MTA bus last month.
On Monday, December 3, at approximately 4:55 p.m., a 16-year-old girl boarded an eastbound B103 bus at Utica Avenue and Avenue H. A little while later, a man boarded the bus and began to touch the victim in what the police describe as her “private area.” The suspect then left the bus on Avenue H and East 56th Street. Police say the victim was not injured.
The NYPD describes the suspect as a 5’6” tall white man, approximately 20-to-30-years-old. He weighs about 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a black cap and a black and yellow jacket. The video of the suspect is attached below.
CANARSIE/ BROWNSVILLE – Police need help searching for two men they believe are involved in 17 burglaries in Queens and Brooklyn.
Three of the 17 burglaries take place in Brooklyn. In all of the incidents, one male forced his way inside the location, pried open safes, drawers, registers, and ATM machines. The other man acted as a lookout. The incidents that took place in Brooklyn are as follows.
- On Friday, November 30, at about 4:30 a.m., a man entered a nail salon on 7907 Flatland Avenue through the rear door. He stole $2,100 from the register and $4,520 from the ATM.
- On Monday, December 3, at about 3:30 a.m., a man entered a deli on 1676 East New York Avenue through the rear door. He took $13,000 from the ATM and $2,000 from the register.
- On Friday, December 7, at about 2:18 a.m., a man entered a nail salon on 9125 Avenue L through the rear door. He removed $200 from the drawer and $1,860 from the ATM.

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Police need help searching for a man who went missing last week.
On January 4, at approximately 7 p.m., 43-year-old Chat Ping Ng was reported missing. Police describe him as a 5’5” tall Asian man weighing about 130 pounds. He has a thin build, light skin, brown eyes, black hair, and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a winter jacket, and blue sneakers.

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – The NYPD needs help searching for two men in connection to an assault that took place last month.
On Tuesday, December 18, at approximately 8 p.m., two men threw a backpack at an 11-year-old girl near Nostrand Avenue and Avenue Y. They then sprayed water in her face and threw a plastic bottle at her. After that, they punched her in the head numerous times. The suspects left the scene in an unknown direction. The victim suffered minor injuries.

Suspect 2: A Black man wearing a burgundy sweater and dark colored pants.
MIDWOOD – The NYPD needs help searching for two men in connection to a robbery that occurred last month.
On Wednesday, December 19, at about 2:30 p.m., the suspects approached the 23-year-old victim at East 15 street and Avenue I. They demanded the man’s property while simulating a weapon. The suspects then went through the victim’s pockets and stole his Galaxy phone, $19 and a debit card.

BAY RIDGE – The NYPD needs help looking for three men in connection to a burglary that took place at the beginning of this week.
On Monday, January 7, at about 11:37 a.m., three men forced open an apartment’s front door on 94th Street and Third Avenue. Once they were inside, they stole jewelry belonging to a 44-year-old man and took $2,000 in cash. They then left the location and headed east on 94th Street.
The suspects are described as follows and a video is attached below.
Suspect 1: A dark-skinned man wearing a gray hooded sweater, a black coat, dark-colored sweatpants, and black sneakers.
Suspect 2: A light-skinned man wearing a black knit cap, a black coat, black pants, and black shoes.
Suspect 3: A light-skinned man wearing a black jacket with a hood, white pants, and dark-colored sneakers.
CONEY ISLAND – The NYPD is searching for a man that was involved in an attempted train robbery last month.
On December 31 at about 10:40 p.m., a man onboard the B Train headed south at the Stillwell Avenue Subway Station displayed a knife and demanded money from a 23-year-old man. The victim attempted to remove the knife but was slashed on the hand and head. The suspect then left the train without taking anything. The victim received minor cuts and refused medical attention at the scene.
Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20s wearing a mask, a gray hat, and a white-hooded jacket.
BUSHWICK – They NYPD have arrested 26-year-old Charles Matthews in connection to an assault that occurred earlier this week.
On Tuesday, January 8, at approximately 7 a.m., police say a 16-year-old girl and nine-year-old boy were standing in the lobby of a Bushwick Houses building on Flushing Avenue when an unidentified man punched them both in the back of the head. He fled in an unknown direction. The victims were transported to Brooklyn Hospital where they were treated for pain and swelling.
Matthews is being charged with three counts of assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon.
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – The NYPD needs help searching for a man involved in a reckless endangerment incident that took place early this week.
On Monday, January 7, at about 4 p.m., a man was seen firing two shots as pedestrians were walking in front of Macy’s at 422 Fulton Street. No one was injured.
Police describe the suspect as a 5’10” black man approximately 15- to 19-years-old with a slim build. He was wearing a black jacket, a black ski hat, black pants with a wide white stripe going down the side of it, black shoes, and a black backpack. A photo is attached below.
CANARSIE – Police need help searching for two men they believed are involved in a burglary that took place last month.
On December 31, at about 12:20 a.m., two men entered a drugstore by breaking through a door on the roof. Once they were inside, they stole money from the cash register and safe. They also took various medications that are estimated to be worth $40,000. They then left and headed in an unknown direction.

Suspect 1: A 30- to 40-year-old man wearing a mask and all dark clothing.
Suspect 2: A 30- to 40-year-old man wearing a mask, all dark clothing, and a backpack.
