Friday Crime Blotter: Taser-Point Robberies, A Billyburg Burglar and More

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for the man that burglarized an apartment near Meserole Street and Manhattan Avenue earlier this month.

Around 2:40 pm on Tuesday, February 13, the suspect entered a residential apartment building and attempted to crash through the door of one of the units. He was unsuccessful at knocking down the door, but finally managed to pry it open, said police. Once inside, he stole a laptop, an iPad, PS4, a Nintendo Switch, a purse, and some cash.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man, 5’8″ to 6’0″, with a tattoo on his neck. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and dark jeans, with a knitted cap and a bag. The suspect can be seen on surveillance video below:

SHEEPSHEAD BAY – Police have now confirmed that shortly before two suspects stole a bike by threatening a 13-year old with a Taser on Monday, they had previously tried to rob an 18-year old of his jacket.

Just after 3:00 pm at East 19 Street and Avenue V, the two unidentified men approached the would-be victim from behind and demanded his jacket, while one of the two threatened him with an electroshock weapon. Luckily, the suspects were startled by a witness and fled.

BED-STUY – Police are looking for the man who got into a physical altercation with an MTA security guard at the Utica Avenue A/C stop in Bed-Stuy on Wednesday, February 7.

The incident occurred around 10:00 am as the uniformed security guard and an MTA mechanic worked to repair a broken MetroCard machine. The suspect began a verbal dispute with the security guard that escalated into a physical altercation. As the security guard tried to restrain the suspect, the man fled, said police. No injuries were reported due to the incident.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his 20’s, about 5’5″ tall and 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a red and black jacket with gray sweatpants. Surveillance photos are available below:

BOROUGH PARK – An attempted robbery in Borough Park has police looking for a man who struck his victim with a gun before fleeing the scene late last month.

Around 4:45 on Saturday, January 27, the 58-year old victim was walking in front of 1419 61st Street when an unidentified man approached him, displaying a gun and demanding money, said police. The suspect struck with the victim with the gun, lacerating the side of the man’s head, then ran away.
