Captain William Taylor, commanding officer of the NYPD’s 62nd Precinct, will be holding an bilingual information session – in Chinese and English –  to educate community members on how to be vigilant against crime.

The meeting, which will inform residents on how to avoid scams, burglaries, and auto theft, will take place on Friday, February 20, at 1pm, at the New Utrecht Public Library (1743 86th Street).

As we’ve reported before, several crime schemes in our neighborhood have targeted Bensonhurt’s Asian community, particularly around the holidays. For example, in November we reported an incident in which a pair of Cantonese-speaking women robbed a 74-year-old woman, by offering to bless her money and valuables. In addition, there has been a disproportionate number of burglaries targeting the Chinese community, particularly around the new year.
