FREE Turkey Giveaways For Those In Need This Saturday
- 10:00 am Moore Street Market (110 Moore St, Brooklyn, NY 11206) on Saturday, November 18
New York City Economic Development Corporation and Council Member Antonio Reynoso will be hosting the market’s first ever turkey giveaway in collaboration with the Moore Street Market Merchants Association. This inaugural event is open to the community and will allow 150 local families to receive turkeys, free of charge.
- 1:45 pm Avenue between President and Carroll Streets – 3rd Annual Turkey Day event organized by Assemblymember Diana C. Richardson:
“Friends, families, and neighbors of the 43rd Assembly District will have the opportunity to connect on a fun-filled day, where free resources will be made available to the community.
We look forward to having you show up at this highly anticipated event, where attendees can partake in food sponsored by Four Seasons Jamaican Restaurant. Also, there will be beverages provided by Crown Height’s own Island to Island Brewery. In addition, available resources will be provided by Community Board 9, Metroplus, Planned Parenthood, Community Healthcare Network, Pre-K for All, Kiddie Science, Camba, and the Civilian Complaint Review Board.”
Please note, tickets will be raffled off for the chance to obtain a frozen turkey.
If you rely on a food pantry, many of them will be distributing turkeys in the days leading up to the holiday.
- Out of the 11,000 turkeys that City Harvest is distributing this year, approximately 2,720 turkeys are distributed to 102 agencies throughout Brooklyn. Four of the 102 agencies, receive 20 cases of turkeys totaling to 80 turkeys per location – Bed Stuy Campaign Against Hunger, Open Door Family Life Center, Children of the Light Ministry and Reaching Out Community Services.
- CAMBA will be distributing turkeys next week at its food pantry on Church Avenue.
