Free Screening Of ‘TINY’ Documentary At All Souls Bethlehem Church This Friday
Over the past 40 years, the average size of a new house in the United States has dramatically increased – and Americans, on average, build some of the largest houses in the world. Last year, the average home size constructed in the U.S. reached almost 2,600 square feet – an all-time high for the country.
With this, however, has come a backlash against the trend of building bigger, with many advocating for building smaller for financial and environmental reasons.
One such person who wanted to rethink the idea of home was Christopher Smith, who, as his 30th birthday approached, decided to buy a plot of land and build a tiny house with his girlfriend.
Their quest to rediscover the concept of home, and how to achieve it, was told in the documentary, “TINY,”which will be shown for free at the All Souls Bethlehem Church Friday, June 27, at 7pm.
“We provide a series of rotating films from family-friendly to mature themed films and documentaries,” the church said. “This month we are viewing a timely documentary dealing with shrinking economics and the shrinking American dream.”
All are welcome to attend this free event.
All Souls Bethlehem Church is located at 566 East 7th Street, between Cortelyou Road and Ditmas Avenue. For more information, call Rev. Tom Martinez at (718) 915-2600.
