Save The Date: Free Egg Creams, New & Improved Cyclone & More At Luna Park’s Opening Day
Brooklynites rejoice! Coney Island’s Luna Park, the Thunderbolt, and the iconic Cyclone rollercoaster will all re-open for spring on March 20 at 12pm.
The iconic coaster, which has brought fearless daredevils to the park for almost a century, has been refurbished and painted, bringing it back to what it looked like the day it opened in 1927.
A press conference and egg cream christening will be held in front of the ride at 11:30am. The first 150 people who attend the ceremony — which will feature Mr. Met, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Councilman Mark Treyger — will get a free egg cream from Brooklyn Seltzer Boys, and everyone will be able to enjoy the new “Cyclone Burgers” at the Cyclone Cafe.
“We are very excited for the re-opening of Luna Park,” said Valerio Ferrari, president of Central Amusement International and Zamperla USA. “We’re looking forward to this season and hope our visitors are just as excited as we are.”
Luna Park is also rolling out its new Platinum Wristband program. The wristband includes four hours of unlimited rides plus deals on five of Luna Park’s most exciting rides: The Thunderbolt, Coney Island Cyclone, Zenobio, Slingshot, and Coney Island Raceway. With the purchase of a $70 wristband, visitors can experience each ride once or choose their favorite ride up to five times, a deal valued at $140.
Luna Park will be open weekends from March 20 to Memorial Day. Starting the holiday weekend, Luna Park will be open seven days a week, throughout the summer.
Visitors will also get to enjoy the brand new and breathtaking “Endeavour — a remake of Coney Island’s classic “Enterprise.” Luna Park’s newest ride combines cutting edge technology with the Luna Park’s classic, nostalgic vibe to present an open-air ride that gives riders the sensation of flying sixty feet through the air, at 25 miles per hour.
