Fourth Avenue’s Cafe 474 to Close

Sad news from Fourth Avenue this morning. After three years, the cozy Cafe 474 (474 4th Ave) will be closing. A neighbor tells us that the building has been purchased by a developer, listed on the city’s ACRIS system as Fourth Eleventh Development, LLC.

According to the cafe’s Facebook page, their last day in our neck of the woods will be tomorrow, February 28.

There is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, though, as the owners say they’re planning on opening a new cafe in Carroll Gardens in late April/early May, and a confections shop in late March.

If you’d like to wish them well, stop by this Thursday, at 8pm. There will be drinks and a toast to new beginnings.

Best of luck, Cafe 474. You will definitely be missed.
