A message from the Fort Greene Park Conservancy has announced that reconstruction of the Willoughby Avenue Entrance “is 50 percent complete” and is scheduled to be done — ready for reopening — by November/December 2015, according to the NYC Parks Capital Projects Tracker.

A checklist of things completed in the $1.4 million project are as follows:

  • New sewers, pipes, and catch basins have been installed.
  • The contractor is currently laying granite curb edging.
  • The Willoughby Avenue sidewalk, in front of the construction entrance, will be fenced off temporarily for reconstruction starting this week. Please use the east side of Willoughby Avenue as an alternative.

Additional federal funding will also be helping to improve sidewalks along Washington Park, said the Conservancy.
