What: Broaden your wine horizons with the Tipsy staff, who’ll teach you about pairing one of their Sicilian white blends with the perfect dish.

AfroPunk Festival
When: Saturday, August 23 & Sunday, August 24,

What: This year features appearances by
preteen shredders
Unlocking the Truth,
Ice-T‘s thrash metal band
Body Count, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings,
Shabazz Palaces, and many more. Also: the
AfroPunk Spin Thrift Marketwith more than 80 Brooklyn vendors and artisans, a “speaker’s corner” for locals inclined to step on a soapbox, an art wall with works by visual artists, and various food trucks.
How much: Free, but you can make a donation in advance and skip the line.
Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival
When: Saturday, August 23
Where: Fort Greene Park
What: Join published authors and rookie scribes alike for readings of fiction, poetry, and more in the park–then follow up with a cake- and wine-filled bash at Greenlight Bookstore!

Pet Adoption Event
When: Saturday, August 23, 12-5pm
Where: Heart of Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital (775 Fulton Street, between South Oxford Street and South Portland Avenue)
What: Sean Casey ‘s adoption truck will be on site, and there will be free microchipping and first examinations for all newly adopted dogs and cats, plus treats and raffles.
How much: Free
Pig Roast Sunday
When: Sunday, August 24, from 4pm on
Where: Colonia Verde (219 Dekalb Avenue between Clermont Avenue and Adelphi Street)
What: Pretty self-explanatory, right? Colonia Verde will be slow roasting a whole pig and serving it up special. Toasty!
How much: Free admission; then it’s up to you
