DJ’d Happy Hour
When: Monday, July 7, starting at 6pm
Where: Five Spot Soul Food (459 Myrtle Avenue at Washington Avenue)
What: Love reggae and cheap eats? Take advantage of this deal from Five Spot. While their DJ spins, you can enjoy $1 jerk chicken and discounted drinks. Happy hour runs 6-8, the DJ starts at 7, and beers are $3 all night long.

Bustin’ Loose Screening
When: Tuesday, July 8, 8pm
Where: Putnam Triangle Plaza (at Putnam Avenue and Fulton Street)
What: The Fulton Area Business Alliance treats locals to another free movie in their FABFlicks series–this time the 1981 Richard Pryor classic. Bring snacks and (non-alcoholic) drinks, sit back, and enjoy the show!

Music for Kids with Suzi Shelton
When: Wednesday, July 9, 10am
Where: Fort Greene Park
What: Singer Suzi Shelton and her band play songs for children, courtesy of the Fort Greene Park Conservancy. Stop by and tag concert photos @fortgreenepark on Instagram for the chance to win a gift certificate from a local business. How much: Free

See the “Transcommunality” Exhibition
When: Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, August 31, 10am-8pm
Where: The stoop at BRIC House (647 Fulton Street at Rockwell Place)
What: This exhibition resulted from artist Laura Anderson Barbata’s decade spent with stilt walkers in Brooklyn, Trinidad and Tobago, and Mexico, and includes 60 sculptural pieces ranging from 11 inches to 17 feet tall. Its stop at BRIC House will be its first in the United States before it moves to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, so catch it while you can.

Fundraiser to Benefit Rwanda
When: Friday, July 11, 6-9pm
Where: Madiba Restaurant (195 Dekalb Avenue at Carlton Avenue)
What: Reservations are encouraged for this special dinner, which will provide much-needed funds for the Africa Healing Exchange. A portion of the restaurant’s proceeds for the night will go towards helping Rwanda continue to recover from its 1994 genocide, assisting with medical care, economic and business services, and more. A “Past, Present, and Future” Tour of the Navy Yard
When: Saturday, July 12, 2:30pm
Where: Starting at BLDG 92 (63 Flushing Avenue at N Elliott Place)
What: Learn about the life of the yard, which began as a ship manufacturer, up to its purpose today as a green and sustainable urban industrial park. Besides a drive around the facility, this tour includes archival materials including historic photographs and recordings of oral history. Reserving tickets ahead of time is encouraged.
How much: $30 per person or $18 for a short tour

No-Cost Yoga from Move with Grace
When: Sunday, July 13, classes at 12 and 12:45pm
Where: Fort Greene Park, at the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument
What: Two classes are being held on Sunday–an open level class suited for beginners, and an intermediate/advanced class–with help from Move with Grace. Participants are asked to RSVP, then show up 15 minutes before class start with a yoga mat or thick beach towel. Also, there will be free juice samples after!
