What: Who doesn’t like a little free comedy? The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings follows Richard Pryor, James Earl Jones, and Billy D. Williams, baseball players during the time of the Negro Leagues.

Hops Hill Grand Opening

What: Hops Hill had a soft opening earlier in the month, but with their official signage now up and huge number of bottles in stock, they’re ready to throw a bash. Check out what they’ve got, and take part in raffles for the chance to win a rare bottle.

What: See artist Brett Swenson‘s newest installation, which centers around NYC’s own Barren Island. Swenson plays with video, found objects, and gas and electricity in this exhibition, on view until August 27.

“Thread” Dance & Film Performance
When: Friday, August 1, 8pm
Where: Irondale Arts Center (85 South Oxford Street between Lafayette and Dekalb Avenues)
What: Body Art Dance takes over Irondale with a multi disciplinary piece that tells the sort of the Greek figure Ariadne, “a modern woman infused with the myths of the past.” It’s a three day run–so if you can’t make it on Friday, try Thursday or Saturday.

Summer Night Short Film Fest Screening
When: Saturday, August 2, 7:30pm
Where: Trilok Fusion Center for Arts and Education (143 Waverly Avenue between Myrtle and Park Avenues)
What: Cities around the world are showing the Summer Night festival of short films. Watch and enjoy these free films alongside people from Portugal, Spain, and Russia. There are no political affiliations here; the event is simply for the sake of art.
