A former Coast Guard member jumped to his death from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge on Sunday morning, said cops.

37-year-old Jason Dickinson leaped from the Brooklyn-bound side of the bridge on May 7 around 8:30 am, cops said, with sections of the bridge slated for closure during the 5 Boro Bike Tour later that day.

Police rescued Dickinson and gave him CPR, then he was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center on Staten Island, where he was pronounced dead.

Dickinson, a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard New York Sector, lived on the Fort Wadsworth base, said police sources.

Despite efforts to discourage it, the bridge is often the site of suicides and suicide attempts — previously, it’s been the scene of at least eight suicides and six more attempts since December 2011. The MTA has installed signs and phones — with the idea they’ll be used to call suicide prevention hotlines — along the span in an attempt to stop potential jumpers, but they do not have plans to install fencing.
