Former Subway Space On 7th Avenue May Become A Nail Salon
83 7th Avenue, formerly Subway, formerly Leaf & Bean

Looks like another nail salon is planning to set up shop on 7th Avenue soon, in the space once home to Leaf & Bean, but most recently vacated by a Subway franchise.

Though we were hoping for a business that would allow us to enjoy the backyard of the storefront at 83 7th Avenue, between Berkeley and Union, tipster J points us to an application submitted to the Department of Buildings for alterations to turn the space into a nail salon. Though the plans were disapproved in late December, that doesn’t usually mean they won’t be approved following a paperwork update — we’ll keep an eye on it an keep you posted.

nail salon coming soon to 92 7th Avenue

Of course, that’s not the only nail salon coming to this stretch of 7th Avenue. Just across the street in the long-empty space at 92 7th Avenue (last home to Chiles & Chocolate, which closed in October 2011), another nail salon is getting ready to open, as Here’s Park Slope reported in November. Latoue Nail Spa, which has a location on 3rd Avenue near 82nd Street in Bay Ridge, is currently at work renovating the space to open a second location here.

Given the number of vacant storefronts along 7th Avenue, we’re always happy to hear of new businesses taking a chance on the street. But two new nail salons on the same block? It will certainly be interesting to see how they do.
