Forage in Prospect Park for Your Dinner at The Farm on Adderley

Forage in Prospect Park for Your Dinner at The Farm on Adderley

On Sunday, April 15, take a walk in the park, learn about the edible plants that grow there, and then head back to The Farm on Adderley on Cortelyou Road to eat them:

Leda Meredith is going to be leading a walking tour through Prospect Park where she’ll be sharpening our eyes to the edibles available there.
We’ll be on the look-out for: dandelion greens, mugwort, Japanese knotweed, garlic mustard, field garlic, nettles, violet leaves and flowers, fiddlehead ferns and bishop’s elder among others – although the winter has been so mild that April may veer into what is usually in season in May.
Then, participants will meet back at the restaurant in the evening for a dinner showcasing these items.
More about Leda Meredith: Leda is the author of The Locavore’s Handbook: The Busy Person’s Guide to Eating Local on a Budget. She is the Gardening Program Coordinator for Adult Education at the New York Botanical Garden and an instructor specializing in edible and medicinal plants at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
