After eight, long, leaderless months, Community Board [CB] 13 is looking to hire a new district manager.

The community board — which handles municipal issues in Coney Island, Seagate, as well as parts of Brighton Beach, Gravesend, and Bensonhurst — will be collecting resumes until August 3, according to a job posting on its website.

CB 13’s longtime district manager Chuck Reichenthal retired in December 2014 over a dispute that ensued between him and the board’s new chairman Stephen “Butch” Moran over accrued vacation days, reported the Brooklyn Paper.

Reichenthal had amassed several months-worth of annual vacation time during his 22 years in the position, rolling over the unused days at the end of each year — which is permitted according to the community board’s bylaws. Moran, who was elected to the unpaid position in July 2014, refused to let Reichenthal continue to roll the days over at the end of 2014, and offered him two choices: to abandon 22 years worth of annual paid leave, or to retire and accept a payout for the unused days.

The payout to Reichenthal — who earned $94,993 per year, according to public records — left CB13 fiscally in the red and unable to hire a new district manager until now, according to the Brooklyn Paper. Candidates being considered for the position include Coney Island Blog‘s Michael Quinn, who currently serves as the CB13’s secretary and chairman of panel’s transportation committee.

The salary for the job starts at $51,757 for a new city employee and at $55,815 for a current city employee with at least two years of city service.
