Flying Tiger Copenhagen, the Danish purveyor of all things cute and quirky, opened its first Brooklyn outpost on Friday, April 21.

Located at City Point at 445 Albee Square West in Downtown Brooklyn, the 2,100-square-foot shop offers its fun, inexpensive (most items are under $15), award-winning Danish design items that include everything from gardening supplies, stationery, jewelry, socks, art supplies, home decor, housewares, toys, pet accessories, exercise equipment, and more. There’s a wall display of candles organized by color that resembles Pantone swatches. Oh, and they also have tote bags—lots and lots of tote bags.

Flying Tiger rotates its inventory regularly, featuring 300 new items each month created by its crack design team in Denmark. The products are well-designed, often colorful, and often emblazoned with a playful pattern.

Founded in Copenhagen in 1995, there are currently 780 Flying Tiger stores worldwide. The Brooklyn outpost is the company’s fifth U.S. location (all five are in the New York area) with their first American store opening in May 2015 in the Flatiron District.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen always provides a fun shopping experience with its cheery, whimsical merchandise and friendly staff. It’s difficult to walk out of the store empty-handed—you’re bound to find a few things that you never realized you needed.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen is the latest retail business to open up at City Point, joining Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Century 21, and Target. A Trader Joe’s, DeKalb Market Hall, Han Dynasty, and more, are slated to open soon.
