A 19-year-old man confessed to stabbing his stepfather in their Flatbush apartment early Sunday morning, only hours after his mother was arrested for the crime, cops say.

Responding to a 911 call, police found the 37-year-old victim and his wife embroiled in a domestic dispute inside their home on East 19th street between Albermarle and Beverley Roads, at 2:30am on July 10. The victim had several gashes in his abdomen, according to NYPD. Police arrested the wife for assault with a knife, after finding the weapon nearby.

The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital and remains in stable condition.

Later that morning, however, the victim’s stepson, Daron Jean Baptiste, 19, turned himself in at the 70th precinct, after reportedly fleeing the crime scene before cops arrived. He was arrested at 8:50am, and charged with a felony assault with intent to cause serious injury, according to police. The victim’s wife, who is also Baptiste’s mother, was released and her arrest report voided.

Though the victim was stabbed inside his apartment, one neighbor reports seeing blood covering the sidewalk on Albermarle Road near the intersection of East 19th street, at 11:30am. “At first I thought the blood was just behind the police tape, but at 4pm I saw there was also blood in front of my building at 1809 Albemarle,” reports the neighbor. “I pointed this out to the officers and they said, ‘we know, it’s everywhere.'”

A police spokesperson could not explain how victim’s blood got on the sidewalk, but speculated the victim may have ran outside after being stabbed.

Some blood stains linger in the area on Monday, according to neighbors, along with loose strands of police tape littering the sidewalk.
