Flatbush Avenue Street Fair Is This Sunday
Mark your calendars: This Sunday, June 18 is the annual Flatbush Avenue Street Fair, one of the neighborhood’s most anticipated and popular summer events. The event will run from 12pm to 6pm, on Flatbush Avenue stretching from Parkside Avenue to Cortelyou Road. (Rain or shine!)
The festival, organized by the Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District, celebrates the people, culture, and businesses along the historic avenue with dancing, music, rides, carnival games, food, shopping, and more — with Caribbean flair. In the past, the festival has drawn 13,000 people to the neighborhood, so prepare for some serious fun — and serious crowds.
Here’s a glimpse of some festival highlights and their locations for Sunday, June 18:
· NYPD’s climbing wall in front of the Kings Theatre
· Steel pan band, stilt walker, and NYC magician “Rogue” who appeared on America’s Got Talent
· Drop in Zumba and BBT (Belly Butt Thighs) class from the new Crunch off Tilden
· Raffle to win tickets to that night’s concert of the Isley Bros. and the July Bring It! Live concert, 1-year membership to Crunch, gift certificates, and more.
And, for the drivers out there, steer clear of this area on Sunday! Flatbush Avenue, from Parkside to Cortelyou, will be closed to traffic for much of the day, and other roads around the event are often congested.
