This week’s flashback photo has been sent in by neighbor Dianna D’Amico of her grandparents and great aunts and uncles, Vinny and Rita D’Amico, Tony and Ellen Maganelli, and Mary and Sal DeAngelo, who all lived in Park Slope.

Dianna says, “The reason I have such a love for Brooklyn, and in particular Park Slope, is because of the roots these fine people put down. All of the men were World War II veterans. They took pride in the community, and above all they had a lot of heart.”

All three couples married and raised families in Park Slope in the 1950s and remained in the neighborhood for years to come. Sal and Vinny lived on 5th Avenue and Tony lived on 20th Street. Sal passed away earlier this month.
