The 5th Avenue business district looked a bit different in the 1930s. This photo was taken looking north from the southwest corner of 15th Street.

Taken in 193-?, the photo caption reads: “Section of 5th Avenue business district, looking north from the southwest corner of 15th Street, with several shops, traffic light, street lights, several parked vehicles, one moving automobile, and cobblestone street with trolley tracks in foreground.”

The image is part of the Brooklyn Collection at the Brooklyn Public Library, and you can find more historic images like this one there or through Brooklyn Visual Heritage. The original source is from The Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
