We were excited to hear that Cold Press’d had reopened as Little Miss Saigon and is now serving Vietnamese sandwiches and bubble tea, so we couldn’t wait to stop by for lunch and try it out.

The small shop was bustling when we stopped by mid-afternoon to grab a bite. We were definitely not the only ones who wanted a refreshing bubble tea on this warm fall day.

We tried the Passionfruit Bubble Tea ($4) with green tea and lychee jelly, which is owner Teddy Mui’s wife’s favorite, and we were not disappointed. The drink was light and refreshingly fruity and we like the lychee jelly better than the typical tapioca bubbles.

If you need a coffee fix, we recommend the Vietnamese coffee ($3), which is perfectly creamy.

As for sandwiches, the shop has a number of different types, but we opted for the traditional banh mi, known here as the LMS Special. The sandwich is loaded with five different types of pork along with pickled carrots and daikon. We recommend getting it with a bit of Sriracha to give it a little bit of a kick.

There were some consistency issues with the sandwich — the ingredients were not well spread throughout the sandwich and one sandwich was better built than another — but we think they’re just working out a few kinks yet. The sandwiches are quite big and loaded with ingredients, so they are well worth the $6.95 price.

To top it off, Mui was selling sponge cakes from Kam Hing Bakery in Chinatown for $1.50. The sweet fluffy cakes are delectable and if they sell well, Mui says he’ll start selling more flavors.

We know we’ll be back for lunch again soon.

Little Miss Saigon, 921 Cortelyou Road near Coney Island Avenue, open daily from 11am-9pm.
