Fire at a tire shop displaces four families

Ditmas Park – A four-alarm fire consumed the tire shop at 453 Coney Island Avenue, next to Prospect Powersports just north of Church Ave. The fire was brought under control by 7:15 am, but the rush hour on Coney was disrupted, as the northbound lanes were still closed at lunchtime. Wast 10th Street was also closed to traffic. Red Cross assisted four families that were displaced as the result of the fire.
