February 14 Is Right Around The Corner! 5 Last-Minute DIY Valentines

Pinterest is full of fancy DIY valentines. I dream big and pin them – thinking the day may come when I have time to live out all of my crafty fantasies. Then work, school, and general life take hold. In the blink of an eye, it’s the week before Valentine’s Day classroom parties, and those store-bought cards are starting to look very appealing.

What if you could have the best of both worlds? A fun crafty look, without hours of cutting construction paper and pasting google eyes on pudding cups? Tell me more!

If you have a printer (or can bum a few prints from a friend), check out these fun last-minute DIY valentines.

The Force Is Strong With This One
The Force Awakens buzz may have died down a bit, but Star Wars fandom is still going strong here in Brooklyn (and beyond). Tape a few glow sticks – because everybody likes glow sticks – to these adorable Vader and Yoda valentines, and you’ll win over kids from both the dark side and the rebel alliance.

A Sweet & Healthy Treat
Cut down on the candy, and get bonus points from fellow parents this Valentine’s Day. Pick up some fruit of your choice from the grocery store (applesauce cups would also be cute), pop them in baggies, and attach a free tag from Craftaholics Anonymous. Easy, inexpensive, and healthy – what’s not to love?

What A Colorful World
A child can never have too many crayons – the ones in our house inevitably end up lost or broken – so we’re loving this next idea. Grab some boxes from your local discount store (Amazon also has a bulk pack of 12 boxes for $7.95), print out the labels from Crazy Little Projects, attach them to the front of the boxes, and let your kiddo’s friends get crafty.

Go Fish
Goldfish crackers (or their cheddar bunny brethren) are kitchen staples from one side of the country to the other, so chances are you already have a bag (or two) in your cupboard. Print off this adorable fish bowl card from Bliss Bloom Blog, slide it into a baggie, and add the goldfish.

Sip-Sip Hooray!
Admit it – you still get excited when you see that crazy straws are included with your drink. Who could blame you? These things are wickedly cool. Top each swirly straw with a “sip-sip hooray” printable from Kinzie’s Kreations, and you instantly have guaranteed smiles from your classroom of kids.
