Fatal Shooting On Avenue D Yesterday Evening
A young man was fatally shot on a Flatbush street just before nightfall yesterday, police said.
Dwayne Stephens, 21, was found lying face down in front of 2911 Avenue D (between East 29th Street and Nostrand Avenue), with a bullet shot to the chest, the NYPD reported.
Stephens, who lived on East 39th Street, was taken to Kings County Hospital but was dead on arrival, police said.
A second victim of yesterday’s shooting, a man in his 60s, suffered a flesh wound, cops said, and was found on Nostrand Avenue.
Surveillance video obtained by Brooklyn News 12 shows people in the area fleeing gunfire at the time of the shooting. Witnesses told News 12 that they heard 10 gunshots, and that there has been prior gang violence in the area.
The suspect (or suspects) fled the scene in a black SUV with yellow New York license plates, News 12 reports.
An investigation is ongoing police said. There is no description yet of a suspect.
