79-Year Old Woman Killed in Bed-Stuy Fire

BED-STUY – A 79-year old woman was killed when a fire broke out in a Bed-Stuy brownstone over the weekend.

Elizabeth Mahone lived in the basement unit at 479 Quincy Street. She was found unconscious and unresponsive in the unit by firefighters and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, police said.

The fire broke out around 6:45 pm on Saturday, August 25, said police.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.
