“Family Friendly” PS 124 Receives New Insideschools Review
4th Avenue’s PS 124 (located between 13th and 14th Street) recently received a shining new review from Insideschools, a blog designed to help parents navigate their way through New York’s public school system.
PS 124 is a low-profile neighborhood constant, often overshadowed by its famous neighbor up the hill, PS 321. And while test scores at PS 124 are average – lower than other nearby Park Slope schools – the school shines in other ways. The student body is richly diverse, as is the experienced and creative teaching staff. There are cozy, well-supplied classrooms, often with classes as small as 20 pupils. Adults at the school — from security guards to the school nurse to the principal – seem to know all the students by name. “I think the size of our school is what makes it so special and so unique,” Principal Annabelle Martinez said, “its small enough that the teachers know every kid.”

We’ve heard it through the grapevine that Pre-K acceptance letters went out today. What advice do the current PS 124 parents have for those families about to join the school community?
