Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this week? From learning about sharks  to movies under the stars to learning about the aquatic ecosystem of Prospect Park, there are a lot of great kid-friendly events coming up in our area. See the full details below!

Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, June 17, 10am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids ages birth to 18 months and their guardians can enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes.
How much: Free, but you must pick up a ticket the morning of the program at the Children’s reference desk.

Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, June 17, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.

Movie Night: Annie (2014)

What: Come watch the remake of this classic story about an orphan who wins the heart of the billionaire who takes her in.

Our Garden Club

What: Kids with and without disabilities can plant seeds, read stories, sing, and take home flowers.

Movies Under The Stars
When: Wednesday, June 17, 6:30-9pm
Where: Old Stone House, 336 3rd Street, between 4th and 5th Avenues
What: Start the evening with Caribbean Carnival headpiece making for kids, a Caribbean theme dance party with DJ English, then an outdoor screening of X-MEN Days of Future Past. Come early and bring your own blankets and chairs. Seating is first come, first serve.

Fledglings: Early Childhood Program
When: Thursday, June 18, 9:30am
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Join the Prospect Park Alliance for a new early childhood program for parents and care-givers with children 18-36 months in age. Children will develop self-reliance, creativity, and problem-solving skills through outdoor play-based activities.
How much: Free, but advanced registration is required.

Nature Exploration
When: Thursdays & Fridays, 12-4pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Families can enjoy a variety of activities, from games for bird nerds to Citizen Science projects to a chance to meet a resident snake.

Story Craft
When: Thursday, June 18, 3:30pm
Where: Pacific Library, 25 4th Avenue
What: Kids can come listen to a story and then create art inspired by the story they heard.

DIY: Crochet Club

What: Come learn how to crochet and make a fun project.

Story Time Friday

Where: Whole Foods Second Floor Cafe, 214 3rd Street
What: Join us on our second floor cafe for Story Time every other Friday – fun treats and laughs included. Recommended for children ages 3-6.

Explore & Create

Movies @ the Library: The Incredibles

What: Much like on the weekdays, families can enjoy a variety of activities, including bird watching, nature-based projects, and more.

Pop-Up Audubon: Incredible Invertebrates
When: Saturdays & Sundays, 11am-4pm
Where: Vanderbilt Playground, Prospect Park
What: Join Alliance naturalists to discover the diverse array of aquatic life by examining the specimens of Prospect Park Lake.
How much: Free!

Pop-Up Audubon II: Water Detectives
When: Saturdays & Sundays, 11am-4pm
Where: Long Meadow near Upper Pool, Prospect Park
What: This month, you’ll get to the park’s freshwater ecosystems through a series of outdoor activities.
How much: Free!

Flax to Linen
When: Saturday, June 20, 2-4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: Join the Prospect Park Alliance to check on the flax crop planted in the spring and try out tools used to process flax fibers into linen cloth. Touch different pieces of linen cloth to compare the weaves and sew a small linen pouch to take home.
How much: $3 suggested donation.

Story Play
When: Saturday, June 13, 10am

What: Play with toys and hear a story, for ages 0-5.

The New York Aquarium presents: Mystery of the Deep – Sharks!
When: Saturday, June 13, 11am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Explore the amazing world of sharks without getting your feet wet. Satisfy your curiosity about these predators as we sink our teeth into the wonders of sharks and discover why healthy oceans need sharks. Take part in interactive activities including trivia, observations and examination of shark artifacts, and bust some myths about these amazing fish!

Make Music New York
When: Sunday, June 21, all day
Where: Various locations
What: Hear music and see performances all along 5th Avenue on Sunday during the Make Music New York event. Many concerts are kid friendly. Check the MMNY website for more details.
