Head’s up! Falling Concrete At DeKalb Subway Station Caused Delays, According To MTA

A cascade of concrete at the DeKalb Avenue station led to disruptions in service yesterday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA).

The concrete fell at around 1pm, causing delays on the N, R, Q, B, and D lines at the DeKalb Avenue station on Flatbush Avenue and DeKalb Avenue, said the MTA.

According to Patch.com:

“The debris is cleared, but we’re still working with test trains in the area” to make sure the station is safe, MTA spokesperson Amanda Kwan told Patch around 7 p.m.
She assured us that the concrete crumbling from the ceiling at Dekalb is “non-structural,” and doesn’t speak to a larger issue at the station.
“It doesn’t have cables, and it’s not load-bearing,” Kwan said of the concrete layer.

These impromptu repairs came on top of the planned service changes to the G train. The G won’t be stopping in Fort Greene or Clinton Hill during late nights for the next two weeks.
