Extra Trash & Recycling Pickups Scheduled For Passover
Worried you won’t be able to get your Chometz, other trash and recycling out before Passover begins this Friday, April 2? Fear not! Community Board 12 and Community Board 14 have you covered.
For neighbors in Community Board 12:
CB 12, which covers Kensington, Midwood and Borough Park, announced that the Sanitation Department will pick up bulk trash items until Erev Pesach on Friday, April 3. Neighbors are asked to place these items at the curb as early as possible.
The entire district will get a recycling pickup from 12am midnight to 8am on Friday, April 3. Everyone should place their recycling on the curb on Thursday night.
Additionally, the district will get a regular garbage pickup that will start Friday morning at 6am and will run until the entire district is picked up. (Remember that, due to a new law that went into effect January 1, Sanitation will not pick up electronic items. For more information about getting rid of them, go here. You may also call the community board at 718-851-0800 to find an electronics recycling location.)
Bread burning will occur on Friday, April 3. All bread burning must be completed by 11:45am — a curfew that CB 12 said will be strictly enforced by the FDNY. As of Wednesday afternoon, CB 12 said the specific burn sites, which will be supervised by CB 12 volunteers and others, have not yet been announced by the city, but as soon as they are, they will be published on CB 12’s website.
